3D Home Architect Home Design Deluxe 6 offers a few good features, including the Automatic Roof Creation Tool that, at the click of a button, automatically designs and places a roof on top of the walls of your home design.


The House Builder Wizard walks newcomers to home design step-by-step through the basics of home design and the Furniture Objects feature give you the ability to place furniture throughout your design, giving you a better sense of space and flow.

You can also take a virtual tour through or around the outside of your design with 3D Home Architect Home Design Deluxe 6's 3-D feature. You can change the colors or textures of your walls and flooring easily while in 3-D mode—just point, click and drag to the object you wish to change.

As there aren't any landscaping features available with this product, the only related feature is basic topography.


Ease of use:
3D Home Architect Home Design Deluxe 6 is intuitively designed and easily navigated. For example, when you select a tool icon, all of the choices pertaining to that tool are automatically listed down the right-hand side of your screen. The toolbar is customizable, allowing you to display the tools you use the most.

We did, however, have a couple of issues with this program. We found it confining that the smallest scale you could set your design at was Ľ" = 1' and that you couldn't scroll your work area, which causes you to run out of space quickly if you're designing a larger home. And when editing wall length, the program doesn't provide you with a running total in feet and inches, making an accurate adjustment almost impossible.

We had no problems installing 3D Home Architect Home Design Deluxe 6.

Broderbund provides video tutorials and a built-in help section for 3D Home Architect Home Design Deluxe 6.


Summary:
Although you get a fair amount of features with 3D Home Architect Home Design Deluxe 6, the program has several built-in limitations. This program is fine for those who want to play around with home design, but for those serious about creating a beautiful, workable house plan, this product falls short.
